First things

Welcome to my new blog on Design, usability, mobiles and things that matter!

It’s a good time to start this blog, as we kicked off the first ever meeting of Mobile Monday in Delhi yesterday. Adobe had kindly offered to let us use their auditorium and facilities and the keynote speaker was Naresh Gupta, Senior Vice President, Adobe. He spoke at length about technologies that had made an impact in day to day life.

Most of the speakers otherwise mainly concentrated on technology innovations – wireless email, tools for mobile development, updates on mobile web, mobile 2.0, or presented their products & services either released commercially (Webaroo) or waiting for release ( My colleague Ekta Rohra Jafri and I presented Mobile usability & UI for small screens. Though it was pretty well received and attended by nearly half the attendees, we found that the understanding regarding the topic was not too high. That gives us a great impetus to evangelize developers & entrepreneurs in Delhi ;)!

One great presentation was by Koolpool – great for the initiative behind the project. It’s a SMS based car pool system for Mumbai. However, we did not find it very usable (yet!). But this was one great way where mobile services are going to be used by the aam jaanta! That’s really fantastic!

The day ended with a panel discussion between industry “experts” – Alok Mittal (Band of Angels), Manoj Dawane (COO, Airtel), Vish Bajaj (CEO, Valuefirst), Karanbir Nag (SVB), Arvind Jha (VP, Monsoon Mutlimedia) and Chirag Jain (VP, India, Webaroo). Operators like Airtel basically want products that will sell to the masses; VCs are looking for good teams to invest in, and it was a common consensus that young entrepreneurs need to have a business model and a marketing model.

the content and the intent both the good… but the design of the blog itself needs to be relooked at… almost half the page is empty 😦 because of the wide column on the right !!!

    Hi Sunandini,

Came to your blog from its incoming link to my blog.

But why is this blog bare? Its got a very nice template; all you need to do is decorate it with content.
